With a list of Hollywood celebrities clamoring for her pieces (Beyonce, Gwyneth, Cameron…we could be here for hours if we listed them all) LA native, Jennifer Meyer, is the darling of the jewelry universe.  Here she talks to us about her ‘happy place’, her near arrest in Turkey, and her ‘California casual’ travel uniform.

How often do you travel?

All the time!

I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world.

Aisle or Window?

Window!

Favorite airline?

Just keep me safe and you’ll be my favorite.

Favorite airport?

I have to say, landing on the Big Island in Hawaii makes me the happiest (although the airport is small and there are no shops).

What brand of luggage do you use?

Tumi. It lasts forever!!!

 What type of carry-on do you use?

Right now I’m really into backpacks. That way I can hold both my kids hands.

What are your travel essentials?

Computer, iPad (for books, magazines & music), Beats headphones, scarf, moisturizer, and hand sanitizer.

One Surprising thing you always pack?

My good luck charms.

What’s your travel uniform?

Converse, jeans, and my grandma’s good luck ring.

Airplane food or bring your own?

If I’m traveling with my kids I pack a million snacks for them. If it’s just me, airplane food. I’m easy.

In-flight drink?

Water, water, water! And an occasional Bloody Mary.

Music on your iPod?

I love everything from hip-hop to country—depends on my mood.

Preferred in-flight entertainment?

Sleep.

Gadget you can’t leave home without?

iPhone and Blackberry. Double-fisted always.

Do you use any travel apps?

Nope.

How do you deal with jet lag?

I don’t. Do you have any good tips?

What’s your exercise routine when you’re traveling?

A lot of walking.

Best travel advice?

Always ask the locals for the best restaurants, beaches and shops. They will know better than anyone.

Worst travel experience?

Getting punched by a random guy on the streets of Barcelona when I was backpacking. That was fun. Or, almost getting arrested in Turkey for putting my shoe on a couch and leaning over to tie it. I think my skirt was too short. Ha!

Do you have any travel rituals/superstitions?

My sister and I always do a little saying together before we fly. It works every time!

Where are your favorite places to travel to?

I love new experiences. But my happy place is Hawaii.

Where haven’t you been yet that you’d like to visit?

Bora Bora.
