Kerry Pieri travels the globe quite a bit (for work, as well as for play), and yet this glamorous girl-on-the-go constantly manages to look perfectly polished and put together at almost every turn (how does she do it?!!). Lucky for us (and for you!) the Senior Digital Editor at HarpersBazaar.com graciously gave us a sneak peek at the beauty essentials she relies on to keep her fresh and fabulous wherever she roams. Ladies, take note!
I travel for work and fun at least 8 times a year and I keep a Sephora travel bag packed and ready in my closet, so I don’t have to think too hard about it each time. Of course that only works if you’re checking your luggage.
First on my check list, which goes separately inside my carry-on bag, is Rosebud Salve, eye drops, Repechage spray, and saline nose spray. Planes are so dry and the only way to avoid getting sick is saline nose spray. Trust me.
Ok, back to the Sephora pack. I bring Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner. It’s sulfate-free, makes my hair fly-away free and it smells delicious. I also never leave home without travel-size Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, which I use as a dry shampoo, and Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish. I don’t travel with a hair dryer because it takes up my shoe space (which is precious), but I do bring a mini flat iron for a quick bangs smoothing.
For my face I use La Prairie Foam Cleanser. After, I apply Caudalie face spray, followed by Rodin face oil. My face lotion is Origins with SPF for the day and Clarins night cream before bed. My bodywash is Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap—the lavender scent is great for relaxing and there’s zero scary additives. I also pack GlamGlow Supermud because I always do a mask when I get to my destination to unclog my pores. For body lotion I bring Kiehl’s, and if I’m at the beach I’ll bring Clarins oil spray.
I don’t travel with a ton of makeup but I always bring Amore Pacific for my face, and Stila Convertible Color in Petunia because it can serve a dual purpose and go on my cheeks and my lips. Stila under eye concealer is also a must. I don’t wear eyeshadeow but I do bring Stila liquid liner if I want a cat eye, or MAC Charcoal to rim my lower lid. I also pack MAC ‘Russian Red‘ if I’m in the mood to do a basic, red lip. Mascara is another essential but I just bring whatever brand I have on hand. I use Egyptian Magic as an eye makeup remover on the road because it can double as a lip balm. I don’t travel with perfume, since I really only wear it occasionally.
I always bring a disposable razor—and it always seems to break—so I’m not averse to calling the front desk for an extra. My toothpaste is Earthpaste in cinnamon—it tastes delicious and is free of fluoride, which I like to avoid. I also pack dental floss—just one of the many lessons garnered from Pretty Woman, “never neglect your gums.” My deodorant is Lavinila Laboratories The Healthy Deodorant—it smells good and real deodorant has scary additives. I rely on hotels for things like Q-Tips et al. I like to plan ahead but be capricious!
I don’t bring any nail polish with me but I usually get a light-colored manicure before I travel so if it chips the sins are hidden.
I also diligently pack oregano oil pills in case I feel like I’m coming down with something and, since my husband is a nutritionist, I always bring Nutreince AM + PM multivitamins as well.
